Digital Painting
For several years now Odwin Rensen has been busy as a digital artist. Although his work might not been widely known yet, he hopes to make a name as a digital portrait painter.
In this art form he combines photography with painting. With advanced software like Corel Painter X, a tablet and pen he succeeds in producing digital paintings with a traditional look and feel. These are than high quality printed onto real artists canvas by a professional printer. Next Odwin embelishes the canvas with an acrylic medium to add texture to the painting, which gives it an authentic look. Finally he seals the canvas with a varnish to protect the colors and durability even more. This way, under normal light conditions, the painting will stay beautiful for many years to come.
For his paintings Odwin uses high resolution photo's as a reference. Be means of a tablet and pen, thousands of brushstrokes are applied. The painting is build up in many different layers just as an artist would do in a tradional way. Despite that the painting is made on a computer with digital tools this is in no way an automated process, every painting is 100% handmade. It's a creative process that takes lots of time and passion to achieve the final result. For example, a 20 by 28 inch painting takes about 15 hours. Because Odwin uses high resolution photo's as a reference the likeness is always very precise and natural.
His specialty is making portrait paintings of human and animals, but other subjects are also possible.
